Making 1845: Memento Mori

Making 1845: Memento Mori would not have been possible without the enormous amount of support from my community in Seattle, and in Ireland.

Over a period of almost two years, I worked over five hundred hours with seventeen other artists to create the thousands of glass potatoes for this project.

My friends who did not make the work with me, supported me by bringing food and refreshments to our work sessions; by showing up to see the work; by advising me on the logistics of packing and shipping the work; by photographing and filming the work; by helping me shuttle the work around the countryside; by helping me imagine the work in a larger context; by believing in my vision, and getting behind it.

It truly has been an amazing journey thus far, and I look forward to seeing where it leads me once I bring it home to Ireland.
